EFY

EFY
I LOVED EFY!!!:) I went to EFY with my bestest friend ever Emma!!:)
We went over the fourth of July. July 1-6
Before we checked in, we went and got breakfast.
Then we were off on our way to check into efy.
After we had got our t-shirts and lanyards, we drove to our dorm.
When we got there, we got our dorm room keys, and went in and got everything unpacked.
Sara was our counselor.
and Rian was our co counselor.
Around 1 are group came into our room. We played some get to know you games. Then we went as our small girl group to go meet our company-the boys.
We also came up with our company name: Know Compassion- the name comes from a scripture in the Book of Morman: 3 Nephi 17:7-10
We played some really fun games with company. Next we had orientation, so we were escorted to the orientation. Being escorted was kinda awkward. But as the week went on it got less and less awkward.
After we had orientation of what to expect, and all that fun stuff, we had dinner. We went to FHE, after dinner and had a lesson from the Session Director-Bro. Mortensen.
Then we went back to our company spot and played some more games and then made goal that we had for that week. We also came up with daily goals-my is service daily.
We went back to our dorm rooms, and get ready for bed and shower. Then are small group- the girls came back into our room and we did Reflect and Review.
Reflect and Review is just where we reflect about our day, and to write down we felt and write down what we learned.
Then it was time for bed.
Emma and I stayed up talking for a long time.:) it was so much fun. I don't think either one of us sleep good that night.:)
Up on the window seal

Tuesday

We had Sara wake us up every morning-because Emma and I didn't bring our phones or our ipods.
So once we were up we got ready. Then we had our morning devotional with just our small group.
Then it was time for breakfast. For Breakfast everyday Emma and I had the same thing-cereal,a doughnut, and a Slurpee. It was pretty awesome.:)
We next had gospel study. So we went to our company meeting spot and we all found our own spots and we read our scriptures and ponder what we were reading, and wrote down what we felt and questions we had and questions that we had answered. We  then got in small groups and talked about what we had read.

Then we had Morning side with the session director.

camps,camps,camps part 1

Camping?
Ya,tons of it, a whole month of it. I LOVED IT!!

First Oakcrest... So much fun. Left on June 17-21. Went with my best friend! I had the best counselor ever! Her name is Mango. We did a ton, of activities up at Oakcrest. Theme "Come Follow,me"

On the first day we didn't really do much.
We meet our counselor, and our group. Took all of our luggage to our cabin, then played get to know you games, had lunch, played Oakcrest clue, played kickball-campers-v.s. counselors. had dinner, had F.H.E.,sang lots of songs, got ready for bed, devotional,15 minutes of silence for personal scripture studding and journal writing, went to bed.

Second Day
Got up, and got ready. Had morning devotional, and scripture study, then went to breakfast. After breakfast we waited for flag ceremony by playing games. Then had flag ceremony, after that was a service activity. We made sock balls, to send to a special needs school in Honduras, I think. The next activity was going over the for strength of youth pamphlet, and asking questions about the topics in the pamphlet. Then we went and did a lot of singing then lunch. We had trading post right after lunch. Which was awesome, that when Emma and I got our sweatshirts. Next was to get the paper for our costumes for the parade after dinner. After we dropped of the paper at our cabin. We did archery. Then went back to the cabin to work on our costumes. Then off to flag ceremony and dinner. After dinner it was the parade and a dance. Emma and I went outside to talk to people we knew, because it got really hot in the dance.  After the dance we went to the cabin and went and got ready for bed, the had our night time devotional, 15 minutes of silence and went to bed.

During the dance, felt good outside.
I was very crazy at the dance.

 Third Day at Oakcrest-Wednesday
Woke up, got ready-and went straight to breakfast. Today was our day on the hike. So we got our sacked lunches and went on our hike. It wasn't a long hike at all. Once we got up to the top of the mountain-hill, we played games, and had scripture study. Then solo time. During solo time, you go off by yourself. Not to far thought that you can't hear the counselor singing to come back. So I went and sat kinda by some trees, and read my scriptures, and wrote a lot of things that came to my mind down. Then once I started hearing singing I went back, and had lunch. Emma and I had fun eating and trying not to let the wind blow dirt into our food.
After we were done eating we went back down, and got ready for the foam slide, and got ready for showers. When we were down with all that we had a little bit of free time.
Then it was time for dinner. Their food there is so good. After dinner we did skits, and went to our spot for our groups testimony. Almost everyone after that was in tears, then we got ready for bed and had our devotional, 15 minutes of silence and went to bed.

Fourth Day
It was the last full day at Oakcrest, Today was the day were we did arts and crafts, and obstacle course, more spiritually activities, and Bishop and the young womens presidency from our stake came up. Also President Cottle came up too. It was good to see them all. They talked to us,and gave us all journals. Then we went off with our Bishops and he gave us cupcakes and talked to us. Also Bishop brought candy up from my family to give to me. Maddie and I couldn't stop laughing. When Emma and I got back to the cabin. lets just say I was very, very crazy. To much sugar. Emma and I talked to Mango until the other girls came back.
Then we had 15 minutes of silence , then went to another cabin and sat on the stairs leading up to it, with a bunch of other girls from different cabins, then we sang church and Oakcrest reverent songs, until a group of counselors came around and sang to us. Then we all went to our cabins got and ready for bed, so girls went to dance, Emma and I didn't.
A little bit later we had our last night time devotional, then we stayed up and mango told us stories and they were really funny. Then she read us the story she read the night before and we all went to bed.  Oh every night Emma and I would switch beds.  Since we were on bunk beds.

Fifth day
Last day. We all got up got ready, Emma and I and a few other girls, I think stayed in our pjs. Then we packed up all our stuff, then we had breakfast outside our cabin on the porch. Then  got our awards.
My award was Closet cray cray. Then we went and took all our stuff to the field and took pictures. then went to the amphitheater, and did lost and found, had the counselor sing a few more songs. Then counselor go around with note for each of us and the paper with all the counselor names on it. Then we gave hugs, everyone was in tears after that. Then everyone went down to the field gave hugs, and we left.

Emma and I memorized " Come follow,me" Oakcrest style

Stake Youth Conference
I only went to on Thursday for the carnival and dance. Then on Saturday for service and slip and slide. Friday I was too tired, and didn't feel good. It was fun though.

Time out for girls!!!!!!!!!!:):):):)

           TIME OUT FOR GIRLS!!!!:):)

One of the BEST 9 hours of my LIFE!:)
Time out for girls was AMAZING!:) I had so much fun. Emma came with me. I was asked to be a volunteer. Best decision yet!:) haha. Since i was a part of staff, i got to reserve two seats so we sat in the second row, one the first day(friday). It was sweet! The presenters for first day were Brad Wilcox, John Bytheway, Mercy River, Sandra Turley. Brad Wilcox helped us memorize The first Presidency  and the quorum of the 12 Apostles . If you don't believe me that right now that Emma and i have it memorized then you can test us when ever.

John Bytheway talked about the Spiritual alarm clock and some really cool alarm clocks to sch as....
you have to point the laser just right to turn it off.

you have to solve it to have it turn off

you have to pull the right wire otherwise it will "blow up"

it yells nice things at you 'til your a wake

this one is my favorite its called the clocky when you hit snooze it will go and find a hiding spot and so the next time it goes off you have to get up and go find it, it finds a new hiding spot each time too.:)

Sandra Turley told us about being on Broadway and being
Cosette in Les Miserable!
so cool,right?:)

When the first session was over so Friday, it was like 10 and we got Brad Wilcox's signature and  and mercy rivers too.

And then we went to Village in at 10:30ish and ate.
Haha

Part two!:)
I loved this day.:) my favorite!:)
On Saturday we had to get up at....(pause for dramatic affect)
5:00 A.m!
If i didn't set an alarm on my iPod the night before then we would of gotten up at six thinking it was 5. so im pretty happy i set my own alarm.
We went and got Emma at 6:30-6:35 ish
it was so cool though to see stars.
I wasn't too tired.
I had to be at the Salt Palace at 7:30.
When we go there I was super excited!:)
after about 10 minutes of being there I went in to the giant room to reserve Emma and my seat.
We sat in the FRONT ROW! how awesome is that?
It was isn't exactly in the center just a little off to the side there was a isle to between Emma and i and the amazing presenters, so cool!:)
I loved what all the presenters said.
On saturday the whole thing was about 6-6 1/2 hours long but it went by way to fast.

The presenters for saturday were....
John Hilton the third, one of the things the he said was ," To expect the respect."
Laurel Christensen

Carmen Rasmusen Herbert, her experience on American Idol and Fear factor and how she stayed true to the church and followed  the standards .

Then Laurel Christensen talked.
About how we will never stand alone, and that we should say the Young Women's Theme with more meaning and not rush through it so we can be done, we need to think about how we are saying it, what it really means. I though that was pretty cool.

Then So did John Hilton the third . He gave us a dare, " A dare not to Compare!" So the dare for us was to not compare with others for a full 48 hours.
It was actually a little hard at first but, soon it was really fun and so easy.

After that Carmen Rasmusen Herbert talked,
"You can be beautiful with out make-up. You are a beautiful daughter of God.:)"

Then sometime around 11 or 12 it was time for a lunch break.
So we were going to eat at the Salt Palace but, we didn't
so we walked around for a long time! But, finally we found somewhere were my moms friend and her girls wanted to eat.
We walked to city creek too.
We went to and got soup it was pretty good.
When we got back to the Salt Palace we finished eating, then we separated  so my mom and her friend went to Time out for women room and Emma and I went and found our seats and right when we walked in they started up again, talk about great timing.:)

They did questions and answers, ( on the program they have a part were you fill it out with a personal or just really question you have and they'll try to answer a lot. They also do a drawing for stuff.)
So they did all that. Then all presenter talked so more.
There was a lot more singing from Sandra Turley and Carmen Rasmusen Herbert.

Laurel Christensen said,
" You are a daughter of Heavenly Father,
He know your name  and he cares and loves you,
He has a plan for your life."

Then Sandra Turley talked about when she had a job in Disney World as The Little Mermaid, she had to sing," Part of your world" five times a day.
Also how she auditioned to be in " Grease" as Sandra D. she go the part, but she told the director that she didn't want to smoke at the end or do anything that didn't follow her standards. So the director said okay.
At the first  rehearsal the director said okay at the end you come out smoking this fake cigarette , but when you blow out the air its smoke so its pretty much still a cigarette. She told the director in private that its not going to work for her. So she got fired. She told us to stand up for what we believe in and to not do something that we know isn't right.

Brad Wilcox talked again, he told us about a fish.
And about a traffic light.
When its green you go
When its red you stop.
When its yellow, you speed up to go through.

Same with us, if we know we have a green light in making a choice we go.
When we have a red light in making a choice we stop.
When we have a yellow light Heavenly Father knows well make the right choice and he trust us.
When we get a yellow light go through with cation, move forward and trust.
Until you feel wrong at a yellow light go on. keep going. Learn grow develop.
Move forward take it as a green.

After Brad Wilcox talked Carmen and Sandra sang "For Good", off of  the musical on Broadway "Wicked":)

After it was over we found my mom and got pictures!:)

Emma, Carmen Rasmusen Herbert, me.

" You don't need make-up to be beautiful, you are a beautiful daughter of  God."
Me, Carmen Rasmusen Herbert, Emma.

Me, Sandra Turley, Emma

Emma and I. Time out for Girls.:)

Mercy river
Me, Brooke, Soni, Whitney, Emma!:)

All of us.

last week and just another great week a head of me!:)

Day of service and serving.

On the 8th we did the youth day of service. Emma was the first one there out of everyone in our stake, then i came and no one was there. So we called Ashley Williams, turns out it started at 8:30 not 8:00, oh well. Then soon people started showing up. We ate breakfast and then we started getting bags of stuff for the service project. Our ward got like 3 or 4-5 bags. Kinda sad. Then we went back to the church in Ashley's car. Then we had to put the stuff into bags. The table Emma and Quinn and I were on didn't want help. After we were done with the stake service project, Ashley, Emma , Quinn and I went and did a different kind of serving . We went to the volleyball courts, and practing serving. It was so much fun. We took a little break and made Quinn and Emma a two head mermaid. And soon Ashley and max left, Emma , Quinn and I stayed and played and then we played "would you rather" that was so much fun. We drop of Ashley's volleyball. Then Quinn and I hung out and got super, duper sunburned. At 6:00 we went and helped Emma babysit, it was fun Quinn and i kept getting beaten up. I was still fun and quite funny though.

Last week was fun! Nadia and Quinn and I on the way home from school, we had the windows down on the bus and we were making a turn and there were two guys across the street we yelled "hi" and they heard us and then they turned around and waved. It was so cool that they heard us.

A band came to Elk ridge on Friday and they have played with neon tree's before and all these bands. The singer did drugs and it almost killed him, but music saved his life. It was a pretty cool assembly.

Also if you get involved with music it can increase your I.Q. by 40%, pretty cool right?
I sure do think so. That means totally awesome grades, good test scores. Oh, I love music♫♪♫♪!

THIS WEEK!!!!

Emma and I taught a lesson today on Service, it was fun. I love service.

Soon in orchestra were going to get our seat assignments, were have to do a playing test so were in the right seats, so Mr.Taylor doesn't a solo to someone who might not be able to play it as well as someone else.

This week were going to Savers for yw and ym's. Then on Thursday theres volleyball.
And on Saturday .... I'll put what i did on the 22 after it happens but its going to be FUN!!!!!!:):):):)
